Chocolate, Gin & Rum, a match made in heaven!

The Warwickshire Gin Company not only distils its own Rum but also produces a fine collection of distinctively different flavoured gin & vodka too. All of the flavour profiles are inspired by historical events in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. The collection has been inspired by Randolph Turpin, who went down in British boxing history for sensationally winning the World Title by beating the legendary Sugar Ray Robinson, earning himself the memorable nickname ‘The Leamington Licker’. Born in Leamington of Guyanan heritage but raised in Warwick, Turpin became a local hero overnight! There is a fine looking statue of Randolph Turpin in the Market Square, Warwick, outside The Rose & Crown pub.

I was sent two small boxes of handmade Belgian chocolate truffles filled with a delicious milk & dark chocolate ganache & flavoured with the Warwickshire Gin Company’s very own gins & rums. These are the result of a successful collaboration between the Warwickshire Gin Company from Leamington and Dale’s Handmade Ltd who hail from the nearby City of Coventry.

Dale of Dale’s Handmade Ltd exhibited some real entrepreneurial flare from an early age, running a disco & party business during his teenage years & starting his first business venture, organising Pick ‘n’ Mix Parties, during his time in the sixth form! In 2017 he started making his own Belgian chocolate truffles, experimenting with various flavours and he also branched out into making cakes & cake decoration. He still has his sweet cart, which he hires out as a chocolate or Krispy Kreme doughnut cart, for special events! His skills & talents appear to know no limits!

Both of the Gin & Rum Truffles were simply delicious. I loved the crunch of the chocolate shell as I bit into the truffle releasing the creamy milk or dark flavoured chocolate ganache. I simply loved them.

Gin truffles

Encased in a milk chocolate shell decorated with a silver shimmer for the Leamington on Parade gin, gold shimmer swirl for the Kingmaker dry gin and a copper shimmer swirl for the Philosopher’s Daughter dry gin. Each box contains 2 of each flavour of the three gins.

Rum Truffles

These Belgian chocolate rum truffles are filled with delicious milk & dark chocolate ganache flavoured with WGC’s very own Pugilist Spiced Rum, encased in a milk or dark chocolate shell decorated with a gold shimmer.
