The Little Barn, Kingham, Oxfordshire
I woke to the sounds of birds singing outside my bedroom window.
I had visited the picturesque Cotswold village of Kingham once before staying at its highly-rated pub restaurant The Kingham Plough, owned by experienced hospitality operators Matt and Katie Beamish, who had created a new outlook for the public bar, restaurant spaces & a fresh modern upgrading of its six bedrooms.

On this occasion I was spending some time at their latest accommodation offering in the village, The Little Barn, a contemporary wooden clad barn, just three hundred metres down from the pub! The accommodation is set in a pleasant residential area of the village close to the village shop & post office and a few minutes’ walk from the historic St Andrew’s Church. The accommodation is situated on a very quiet side street, off the main road, with very little traffic passing through the village.

On entering the barn there is bench seating on the right underneath hanging hooks for coats & hats. On the left is a small table, mirror & shelving. Directly in front is the dining area which has a large circular table, three chairs and further bench seating around two of the walls.

To the right is the main living area & spacious lounge with a decorative dry stone wall with a with log burner in its centre and two small tables with decorative lamps and a log basket. Three large ceiling to floor windows & patio doors look out over a small courtyard garden with a wooden trestle table, workspace & BBQ. In the lounge is a low wooden coffee table sitting on a beautiful rustic rug, a large sofa with several country style cushions & two very comfortable armchairs separated by a small slender round table. Three large modern basket light shades hung from the ceiling in the centre of the lounge. There were a number of Geographical magazines on the coffee table and a much appreciated Scrabble game box! I won!

There are two smart modern bedrooms with crisp white pillows, bedsheets & a thick warm quilt cover over a soft & very comfortable king size bed or a King size/Twin suite. The curtains & blinds provided excellent blackout cover during the bright early morning sunshine. Each room included bedside tables & lamps with a very smart pastel blue headboard running across the back of the wall. There is a small mirror above a very modern two legged wall desk and the walls were all painted a clean fresh cream with splashes of pure white here & there. There was no wardrobe in one of the bedrooms but there were plenty of hooks for hanging clothes in bedrooms & throughout the barn!

The bathroom includes a screened shower unit tastefully decorated with pastel crème & green stripes and a polka dot flooring but unusually no mirror! I simply loved the large circular decorative wash bowl in one of the bedrooms. A touch of class!

The modern kitchen provides everything anyone would ever need for a short or longer stay, a fridge, oven, toaster, coffee machine, dishwasher, and anything else you care to mention. It is all there!

The décor of The Little Barn is clean, fresh & modern with calming pastel shades, tidy wooden panelling throughout & an assortment of distressed furniture creating an extremely comfortable & contemporary living space. The overall mood is of a very clean, fresh living environment. The Little Barn room rate includes breakfast at The Kingham Plough, which was well worth getting up for!

I would not hesitate to recommend The Little Barn in Kingham if you are planning a tour of the Cotswolds or simply passing through the village of Kingham.
I simply loved it!
